KEY POINTS:
A 41-year-old Murupara man will appear in court next week to face two charges of owning dogs which caused serious injury following the death of Virginia Ohlson, mauled to death in April.
Ms Ohlson, 56, died after being attacked by a pitbull and a staffordshire cross just before 7am on April 21 while out walking in Murupara, 65km southeast of Rotorua.
The dogs were put down after the attack and a post mortem confirmed Ms Ohlson's death was due to shock and trauma resulting from multiple dog bites.
Today Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Loper of Rotorua police said police had charged a man under the Dog Control Act.
Mr Loper said the man was granted bail and would appear in the Rotorua District Court on June 13.
