KEY POINTS:
A man has been charged with assault after a domestic dispute involving several guns.
Sergeant Shane McNally said the incident happened in Kinloch, 23km northwest of Taupo, about 10pm yesterday.
Police were called to a house where the dispute took place but a man had left the property before they arrived, Mr McNally said.
He said police believed the man had several firearms with him.
"Taupo police with the assistance of the Rotorua armed offenders squad located the male at a rural property near Kinloch," Mr McNally said.
The 43-year-old man was taken into custody without incident, and is set to appear in Taupo District Court today.
