A 23-year-old was remanded in custody when he appeared in court today charged with the manslaughter of a man after allegedly punching him outside a Dunedin McDonald's outlet at the weekend.
Stephen Francis Radnoty, 51, died after being punched while he was waiting in line at the George Street McDonald's early on Saturday morning.
He died in hospital on Saturday night.
The 23-year-old was originally charged with assault but in Dunedin District Court today the charge was upgraded to manslaughter, Detective Sergeant Rob Hanna told NZPA.
He was remanded in custody until his next court appearance in May.
