Man charged after bread board attack

A 34-year-old freezing worker will appear in court today after a woman was attacked with a bread board.

Police said they were called to a house in at Matapihi, 9km east of Tauranga, early today following a report of a domestic incident.

A man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a woman with a bread board and threatened other people at the address with a machete.

The man had been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of an offensive weapon, threatening to kill, and driving with excess alcohol.

He would appear in Tauranga District Court this morning.
