Sergeant Garry Wilson said police opposed Bennett being bailed as he faces three charges alleging he assaulted his partner.
The charge sheets shows the charges relate to an incident on August 24, and two alleged to have happened between June 1 and August 31, this year.
He was represented by lawyer James Elliott.
