As a 26-year-old Masterton father was remanded in custody on domestic violence charges he yelled out "I love you" to his partner.
William Lawrence Bennett of Kuripuni also yelled out "look after my baby" to the woman in the public gallery as he was led from the dock.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Garry Wilson said police opposed Bennett being bailed as he faces three charges alleging he assaulted his partner.
The charge sheets shows the charges relate to an incident on August 24, and two alleged to have happened between June 1 and August 31, this year.
He was represented by lawyer James Elliott.
