A man was buried in coal at the MacDougall Mine in Huntly today.
Fire fighters were called to the mine but fire communications shift manager Tony McDonald said the incident was over very quickly.
He said the man was working near a coal hopper, a large funnel used in coal mining, and must have fallen in.
"We were in the process of organising every man and his dog to go," Mr McDonald said.
But when fire fighters from Huntly arrived on the scene, they let the bottom out of the hopper and "out came the coal and out came him", Mr McDonald said.
He said the man has a few cuts and bruises but is otherwise ok.
"He's one lucky guy, I would say, and there are a bunch of very pleased fire fighters," Mr McDonald said.
