A man awaiting trial on charges of sexually violating an Australian tourist in Christchurch is wanted by Masterton police for breaching his bail.
Maia Rongonui, 18, has pleaded not guilty to charges of sexual violation and assault with intent to commit sexual violation in relation to an incident in Christchurch last Easter.
After being committed for trial Rongonui was bailed, under curfew, to his parents' home in Masterton.
His trial will be held in Christchurch.
Masterton police Sergeant Neil Foote told NZPA police were looking for Rongonui as he had breached the curfew condition of his bail.
They were actively seeking him so he could be arrested for the bail breach.
Mr Foote said Rongonui's next scheduled court appearance in relation to the sex charges was in Christchurch on September 2.
