KEY POINTS:
A bust-up with his girlfriend was today blamed by a man for going on a crime spree.
In Wellington District Court Tyson Kino, 20, admitted charges of burglary, shoplifting, threatening to kill and breaching a protection order.
Prosecutor Scott Brickell told the court Kino's committed a series of crimes, including 10 burglaries, in Levin between September and November last year.
His targets included houses, real estate agencies, a performing arts centre, a pub, a doctor's surgery and a church from which he stole more than $100 from the donations box.
Kino's haul included laptop computers, a credit card, a slug pistol, cash, a digital camera, and food.
Kino told police he committed the burglaries because his relationship with his girlfriend had ended and he had nowhere to live and no money.
He said all of the stolen property had been sold and was irretrievable.
Judge Thomas Broadmore agreed with Kino's lawyer Brian Gore's description of Kino as "essentially a first time offender".
He said the law strongly suggested Kino would go to jail for his offending.
However he said he was allowing bail so Kino's lawyer could try to put together a case showing why he should not be imprisoned.
Kino was remanded for sentencing on February 16.
