KEY POINTS:
An Auckland woman has been left traumatised after watching a man bite the head off her pet mouse.
The woman was walking to her son's school with the mouse in her top when she was confronted by a group of men.
One of the men took the mouse and bit down on its head, crushing it, Newstalk ZB said.
SPCA chief executive Robyn Kippenberger said losing a much-loved pet in circumstances like those would be quite horrendous.
If it was a loved pet, it wouldn't matter whether it was a cat, dog, horse or mouse.
