KEY POINTS:
A man at a Hastings family function was bashed and robbed when he went to get CDs from his vehicle.
Detective Glenn Restieaux said the 22-year-old man went to his vehicle in Willowpark Road about 1.30am.
He was dragged from the vehicle, across the road and into a park.
"He was then repeatedly punched and kicked by his assailants and his property taken," Mr Restieaux said.
"One of the offenders produced a knife and the victim believed he was going to be stabbed. However, without warning, the offenders have run off into Bill Matheson Park, at which time the victim ran back to the family function."
He was treated for cuts and grazes.
Police wanted to hear from anyone with information about the assault, or who may have seen it.
