A south Auckland man who acted as an accessory after a double murder has avoided a jail term.
Bal Krishnan Naidu, 65, appeared in the High Court at Auckland this morning after previously pleading guilty to the two charges.
Justice Anne Hinton sentenced him to 12 months home detention - the maximum period - to be served at his Papatoetoe address.
The charge of acting as an accessory to murder can attract a sentence as high as seven years imprisonment.
While completing the home detention term, Naidu was banned from using booze or drugs and he was ordered to complete any rehabilitative programmes ordered by probation.
