KEY POINTS:
A man was attacked after he approached a group of youths he caught tagging a wall.
The man pulled into the Mill Liquorsave car park on Peachgrove Rd in Hamilton just before 8pm on August 29 and noticed four youths spray-painting graffiti on a wall.
When the man told them to stop they struck him on the head with a beer bottle.
He suffered cuts to his head and concussion.
Constable Mark Walker of Hamilton East Police said police want to speak to people they have labelled "good samaritans" who helped the man and called an ambulance.
The offenders are described as male Maoris aged 16-18 of medium build.
Two were said to be wearing hooded sweatshirts, one dark in colour, the other white.
Anyone with information on the attack is asked to contact East Hamilton police.
