A man in his 50s was assaulted in broad daylight in Nelson yesterday.
The 51-year-old was found by members of the public just after 2pm on Paru Paru Rd near the Trafalgar Centre, police said.
Emergency services were called to the scene and the man's injuries were initially thought to be serious.
He was treated and discharged from hospital last night.
An address in the wood where it is believed the assault took place was today being examined by police. A scene guard was in place overnight.
