A man was arrested today after a gun was presented during a street fight and a police pursuit through South Auckland.
Police were alerted to an incident in Molesworth Place, Mangere, about 1pm.
The man allegedly presented a firearm at other people during the street brawl.
"The man left thestreet in a car with three others but was followed by armed police through Otahuhu, Mt Wellington and Mangere for the ensuing 90 minutes before he and his passengers stopped the vehicle in Ventura St, Mangere," police said in a statement.
But several hours later the police released a new version of events saying they were in a "fleeing driver" situation for only eight of the 90 minutes.
Three teenagers were detained and an armed 20 year-old man was arrested.
The armed man was wanted on warrants for failing to appear in court in May, on charges including assaulting police.
"A firearm was recovered from under the driver's seat of the car he'd travelled in."
He was expected to appear in Manukau District Court on Monday facing several charges.
Police said the three teenagers were assisting police with inquiries.
"I can reassure our communities that an armed, wanted man has been removed from their neighbourhood and I reiterate the warnings police have been issuing to all who favour this type of behaviour that it will eventually end badly - for someone," Senior Sergeant Emiel Logan said.
Meanwhile, police are also searching for a man who allegedly pulled a firearm on two men after a fight on Auckland's North Shore.
A spokeswoman said police were called to the scene behind the Northcote library about 1.30pm.
The man had left the area, and has not been found. Police are still investigating.
