Man arrested over Queenstown nightclub fracas

Queenstown police have arrested a 40-year-old local man following an incident in the Subculture nightclub in the town.

Two nightclub patrons were involved in the fracas at about 3am on Saturday, January 21.

Today's arrest follows a week-long investigation, during which police heard from several witnesses who had been at the nightclub.

The man faces a charge of wounding with reckless disregard causing grievous bodily harm.

He also faces a charge of Crimes Act common assault in relation to an alleged assault on a friend of the victim's who was in the bar at the time.

The accused man has been given strict court-imposed bail conditions, and will appear on Monday in the Queenstown District Court.

The victim, Jordan Sinke, remains in Dunedin Hospital.

When he is well enough, police hope to speak with him about the incident.
