A man has been arrested for the theft of $5000 worth of electrical transformers in Auckland which became the centre of a citywide billboard campaign.
Photos of a man allegedly stealing 15 transformers from a billboard in Karangahape Road in October were placed on a large number of billboards in the city last month by the owner of the transformers.
Inspector Kerry Watson said police had arrested a 24-year-old man in relation to the incident last night.
He will appear in Auckland District Court this morning charged with theft and breach of bail.
