Wellington Police have arrested and charged a man with two bank robberies at opposite ends of the North Island.
One of the charges related to the aggravated robbery of the ASB Bank in Kilbirnie on June 12. The other robbery took place at the BNZ in Papatoetoe on April 7.
During both incidents, the 33-year-old man threatened tellers with a knife and demanded money.
He obtained a small amount of money from both banks, police said.
No one was hurt at either incident, but bank staff had been severely distressed as a result.
