Police have arrested a 56-year-old man in relation to an assault of a female cyclist on a Dunedin street.
Jonathan Paul Auchterlonie appeared in the Dunedin District Court today charged with assault.
He was remanded in custody by Justice Robert Montogomery and will reappear on February 4.
The court was
not satisfied that the public was safe with Auchterlonie on bail with his history of violence and alcoholism.
The 45-year-old woman suffered minor injuries in what police said was a random attack on Portsmouth Drive on December 5.
