A man has been arrested in connection with an alleged kidnapping of a woman in Christchurch this morning, police say.
The 37-year-old woman was understood to have been walking along Marine Parade in New Brighton about 8.30am when a man driving a navy blue 1994 Nissan Avenir station wagon stopped his car nearby.
The man might have been at the location in the days leading up to the alleged incident, a police spokeswoman said.
A 38-year-old man has been charged with attempted kidnapping and would appear in Christchurch District Court next Tuesday.
Police asked anyone who had seen the vehicle in the New Brighton or wider Christchurch area this morning or on any other occasion to contact them on 03 363 7670, or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, the spokeswoman said.
