A man has been arrested in West Auckland after allegedly pointing a gun at a member of the public and then at a police officer this morning.
Around 7am it was reported to police that a man had pointed a firearm at a member of the public near Westgate, a spokeswoman said.
Police - who were reportedly armed - and the Eagle helicopter were involved in finding the man in Muriwai, on Auckland's west coast.
While attempting to apprehend him he allegedly pointed his gun at a police officer, a spokeswoman said.
The man was then arrested without incident.
