A Blenheim man has been arrested after allegedly unlawfully taking a car and then dumping it in the sea.
Police said they received reports of a red car floating out to sea near the Wairau Diversion in Rarangi this morning.
A member of the public said they had spotted a red car floating out to sea near the Wairau Diversion, in Rarangi, with its hazard lights on.
The car then disappeared under the water.
Spokeswoman Barbara Dunn said the arrested man knew the owner of the car.
