KEY POINTS:
An Auckland digger driver has been arrested for the abduction and rape of a woman last year.
The 30-year-old man is due to appear in Auckland District Court later today.
Police say that the charges follow the rape of a woman in suburban Grafton on February 6 last year.
The man, who also faces was charges of possession of a knife and theft, was arrested today after police searched his home as part of their investigations into a series of alleged rapes between February last year and July this year, Detective Sergeant Andy King said.
He said investigations were ongoing and all files held by the team had been audited during the current inquiry to determine if any unresolved complaints were linked to the arrested man.
"It's likely he'll face further serious charges at a later date," Mr King said.
