A 21-year-old man has been arrested after a gang-associated shootout in Whangarei.
People were heard shouting and fighting in a house on Clark St in Kamo before five people were shot on Wednesday night.
The man has not been charged yet and is among three people being treated at Whangarei Hospital for bullet wounds.
Area Commander for Whangarei/Kaipara Inspector Justin Rogers said police will maintain a strong presence in Kamo and at Whangarei Hospital over the weekend.
"Our scene examination at an address in Clark Rd is ongoing and we continue to carry out area enquiries.
