A man has been arrested and charged after he allegedly attacked a woman and threatened her with a knife in Auckland this morning.
The victim was walking to work along Mt Albert Rd about 5.10am when the violent assault took place.
The 31-year-old man is expected to appear before the Auckland District Court tomorrow facing charges including abduction, assault with a weapon, sexual violation and robbery.
Detective Senior Sergeant Glenn Baldwin said the attack was a traumatic experience for the woman.
"Police responded swiftly to the attack and one of our four officers was able to quickly identify the offender based on information provided by the victim," he said.
