An 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged with assault after a man died from a stab to the head north of Auckland yesterday.
Emergency services were called to a small gathering of around six people at an address on Pine Valley Rd, Dairy Flat around 7.50pm, where a 24-year-old was injured.
The injured man was taken by ambulance to Auckland Hospital where he died at 9.30pm from his injuries.
It is understood the man was stabbed in the head with part of a clothes horse.
Police guarded the scene overnight and will begin a scene examination this morning.
Occupants from the address are assisting police with their inquiries.
A 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged with common assault and will appear at the North Shore District Court today.
Police said they were not seeking anyone else with regards to the incident.
The deceased will undergo a post-mortem examination in the morning. His name will be released when next of kin have been notified.
