A man has been arrested after reports of a person entering shops central Tauranga shops with a gun.
Tauranga police Senior Sergeant Steve Hindmarsh said it appeared the gun was not real.
"It was something that looked like a firearm."
Mag and Turbo owner Shane Morgan said the firearm looked like a BB gun.
The man came into his shop this morning and starting asking staff "really random questions", Mr Morgan said.
The staff member talking with the man noticed he had a pistol in his hand and tried to end the conversation.
The man walked outside and started playing with the gun, before walking off down Wharf St where he was arrested.
