Two men will appear in court tomorrow after allegedly stealing a large television and a lawnmower before leading police on a high-speed chase and hiding in dense bush in Hastings.
Police were called after a white vehicle was seen fleeing a burglary scene in Algernon Road, Hastings around 3pm yesterday.
Police came across a white 1998 Mazda Capella saloon speeding on Mangaroa Road and pursued it as it sped onto Ngatarawa Road.
After a pursuit through the streets of Fernhill and Dartmoor, with speeds allegedly exceeding 150km/h, police lost sight of the vehicle on Swamp Road.
The car was located soon after, abandoned in a Swamp Road paddock.
Property allegedly taken in the earlier burglary was found in the car.
Dog units, a helicopter and police from Hastings and Napier were involved in searching for the car's occupants, who were found around 5pm hiding in a creek in dense scrub.
The men, aged 34 and 31, would appear in Hastings District Court on burglary and driving charges tomorrow.
