A man has been arrested after a hammer attack on a man yesterday at a house in the Lower Kaimais in the Western Bay of Plenty.
The hammer was used to assault the 65-year-old as well as extensively damaging his car, Tauranga police said.
The man was hospitalised with severe bruising to his shoulder and rib cage, as well as cuts and bruises.
Today a 60-year-old man from the address where the incident happened was arrested and charged with injuring with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and intentional damage, police said.
He has been released on bail and is due to appear at Tauranga District Court on Monday.
