Man arrested after fruit seller robbed, assaulted

A man has been arrested for assaulting and robbing a 15-year-old schoolgirl selling fruit from a van in Mount Maunganui.

Police said two men walked past the girl in Maranui St in January.

One of them then returned and pushed the girl over, making off with a canvas Westpac bank bag containing money.

Police said today that as a result of ongoing information from the public a 28-year-old Rotorua man had been arrested. He would appear in Tauranga District on Thursday charged with robbery.
