KEY POINTS:
A man was arrested in Dunedin last night after up to nine people at a house were made to lie on the ground while being threatened with a high powered rifle.
Acting Senior Sergeant Chris McLellan said the Armed Offenders Squad was called to an Ellison Rd house at about 7pm after being told a 24-year-old man was in possession of a .303 rifle.
"Victims at this address were threatened with the firearm and forced to lie down on the ground. Two of the victims were physically assaulted and received minor injuries."
Police said a man was arrested without incident after he presented himself to a police cordon set up outside the house.
He is being held in custody and will appear in Dunedin District Court tomorrow to face a number of firearms related offences.
