A man was arrested in Timaru yesterday after Customs officers intercepted 2887 ecstasy tablets at the Auckland Mail Centre.
Customs manager, drug investigations, Bill Perry, said a joint Customs-police operation led to the arrest of the 32-year-old man on charges of importing a class B controlled drug. He was remanded in custody.
The seized tablets had an estimated street value of $173,000.
