KEY POINTS:
A Whakatane man will face drugs and firearms charges in Tauranga District Court today after police raided an alleged methamphetamine lab near Tauranga.
Detective Sergeant Darryl Brazier said the lab, in a storage shed at Te Puna, had all the necessary chemicals and paraphernalia to manufacture methamphetamine.
ESR and clandestine laboratory experts from Auckland were called to the scene yesterday and examinations will continue today.
Mr Brazier said a 35-year-old mechanic would face charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, along with unlawful possession of ammunition found by police in the building.
