A man who crashed his car after a police pursuit following on from a domestic violence incident will appear at the Hutt Valley District Court tomorrow.
A Wellington resident was brought into custody this afternoon after members of the public reported him to police.
Police said a man fled from police in his car after officers arrived at a motel in the Wellington suburb of Newlands for a domestic violence call out about 6am.
Wellington police spokesman Nick Bohm said officers pursued him for a brief period as he headed down Ngauranga Gorge. This was abandoned due to "excessive speed".
When the man's car clipped another vehicle on State Highway 2 in the Kelson area, it rolled and he continued to flee on foot, Mr Bohm said.
