A man has been arrested after a policeman was injured in a hit-and-run.
28-year-old Napier man Robbie Richards was arrested last night.
On late Thursday night or early Friday morning, a motorist drove a car into the policeman at a roadside checkpoint. The driver sped off and crashed 2km away away.
"Robbie Richards was sought by police as he had connections to the silver Honda CRV that was involved in the incident," police said in a statement today.
"Richards was arrested late last night at a Hastings house. He is due to appear in the Napier District Court on Monday in relation to two warrants for his arrest on unrelated matters."
