KEY POINTS:
A man wanted over a number of aggravated robberies in Hamilton and the armed hold-up of a Tauranga petrol station handed himself into police yesterday.
Detective Sergeant Neville Ross of the Hamilton CIB said the 34-year-old Waikato man walked into the Tauranga Police station with his lawyer about 5pm to surrender.
"(The man) was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery in connection with the robbery of a Tauranga service station early Monday night."
He had allegedly entered the Brookfield service station on Otumoetai Road about 5.30pm with a knife and demanded money, cigarettes and tobacco.
Mr Ross said the man was due to appear in Tauranga District Court today on the petrol station robbery charge, and more charges in relation to the offences in Hamilton were likely to be laid.
Mr Ross asked anyone who knew the whereabouts of a black Nissan Terrano, with the registration number CRC526, to contact their nearest police station.
