KEY POINTS:
A man has appeared in court charged with the two-month old murder of Chattrice Maihi-Carroll in Napier.
The accused was granted interim name suppression and remanded in custody for two weeks when he appeared in Napier District Court this afternoon.
Mother-of-four Ms Maihi-Carroll, 46, was found dead in her Cottrell Cres home in Onekawa, Napier, on January 21.
She was naked and had been stabbed several times.
Detective Inspector Sam Aberahama earlier said police were pleased an arrest had been made.
"This has been a long investigation and our staff have worked hard to get to this point. We will now have to wait for justice to take its course," he said.
Police thanked the public for information and help provided.
Police would not comment further on the case as it was now before the courts.
Ms Maihi-Carroll's family said they were relieved and pleased to hear of the arrest and hoped they could now have some closure to move forward with their lives.
