A man who slipped while carrying a box has been flown to Auckland with possible spinal damage.
The man, in his 50s, was flown by Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter to Auckland Hospital shortly after midday yesterday.
Helicopter spokesman Lincoln Davies said the man was flown from Cooks Beach, Coromandel, after he slipped while carrying a box.
"The patient was carrying a heavy box when he tripped and fell heavily on his right side.
"He had some severe pain in his right hip, with some cold feeling in his knee and foot. Because that could be a sign of spinal injury, he was helicoptered."
