KEY POINTS:
A Hawera man has admitted the late-night stabbing of a boyracer in New Plymouth last month.
Allan Keith Abraham Graham, 25, pleaded guilty in New Plymouth District Court yesterday to wounding Keith Michael Pilcher with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The court was told Graham handed himself into Hawera police two days after the September 21 stabbing, which happened at a favourite boyracer area in Bell Block.
Police said he beat up his 23-year-old Mr Pilcher, before plunging a knife up to its handle into his side.
The knife remained embedded in the victim's side as friends rushed him to hospital.
Police and ambulance were called when Mr Pilcher began to lose consciousness during the journey.
He was released from hospital several days later.
Judge Allan Roberts remanded Graham in custody for sentencing on November 30.
