A man has pleaded guilty to shooting at police during a chase at Waihi earlier this year.
James Samuells, 20, was left a paraplegic after allegedly being shot in the abdomen by a police officer at the end of the chase.
At a depositions hearing in Tauranga today, Samuells pleaded guilty to 10 charges after a charge of attempted murder was changed to one of firing at police.
He faced several charges of firing at police, one of breaking and entering and two of stealing a vehicle.
After being shot he was treated at the Otara spinal unit in Auckland.
He was charged at a special bedside court session on February 1.
Samuells and girlfriend Yana Poata were allegedly involved in the dramatic police chase through the Bay of Plenty on January 21.
Samuells will be sentenced in September at the High Court in Rotorua.
