KEY POINTS:
A man today admitted stabbing to death his former partner at her Dunedin home in July last year.
Shiloh Rickard, 47, pleaded guilty in the High Court in Dunedin to murdering Vicki Jane Telfer and injuring her sister Lisa Anne Telfer with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The prosecution said Rickard stabbed the two sisters with a vegetable knife with such ferocity the knife handle broke.
He then went to the kitchen to find another weapon and Lisa Telfer managed to escape.
Returning to the bedroom with a 14cm-blade boning knife, Rickard continued stabbing Vicki Telfer.
Rickard was remanded in custody for sentencing later this month.
