A young man has admitted hitting a dairy owner with a claw hammer during a robbery in September.
Samuel Anglem, 20, appeared in Timaru District Court yesterday where he was convicted of aggravated robbery and remanded in custody to be sentenced on March 17, the Timaru Herald reported.
Dairy owner Ashwin Surti required hospital treatment after being hit with the hammer and shot in the face with an air gun at close range during the robbery.
An alleged associate has been charged separately.
