A Rotorua man has admitted his part in the robbery of two tourists at a popular hot pool earlier this month.
Jade Raymond Mellow, 21, of no fixed address, appeared in Rotorua District Court yesterday where he pleaded guilty to the aggravated robbery of a couple at Waiotapu, as well as a raft of other charges.
Mellow was charged, along with two others, with robbing Korean 26-year-old Sojung Lee of a laptop , camera, cash, jewellery and other miscellaneous items to a value in excess of $1000, and robbing Swiss 20-year-old Livio Dreyer.
The tourists were at the hot pools on the Waiotapu Loop Rd about 3am on July 3 when they were robbed.
They told police that a group of people arrived at the hot pools and they felt uncomfortable. When they attempted to leave, the male tourist was hit over the head and they were robbed.
