A Hastings man has admitted stealing $5000 worth of alcohol from Diva Bar in Havelock North.
Kahu Takura Dixon, 22, appeared in Hastings District Court yesterday and admitted the January 2 burglary, where bottles of alcohol were snatched from Napier Road's upmarket bar. The court was told Dixon and two male associates forced open the bar's rear door about 1am and, despite activating multiple alarms, stole the bottles and fled on foot.
A police dog handler tracked the culprits to a home on Campbell St, where they were discovered with two bottles of stolen vodka. A further 11 bottles of alcohol were found along a track.
Dixon told police the trio had planned the break-in.
He was bailed to appear for sentence in March, where it was likely an order to pay $1667 would be made - one third of the total reparation sought by police.
