A second man has admitted his involvement in the brutal attack and robbery of Rotorua businessman Peter Bentley.
Mano James Tamati, 30, of Rotorua, yesterday pleaded guilty in Rotorua District Court to aggravated robbery, wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and burglary.
Judge Paul Geoghegan withdrew a charge of aggravated burglary after an application by the prosecutor.
Mr Bentley was bashed and robbed during a brutal home invasion at his farmhouse east of Te Puke last Labour Weekend.
Police said Tamati bashed Mr Bentley on two occasions across the legs, knees, arms and head with a crowbar.
Tamati told Mr Bentley that if he did not do what he was told he would stab him.
He later stabbed him in the arm and stole his wallet containing $1200 and bank cards.
Tamati, and Hopihana Epiha, 40, unemployed, drove off in Tamati's car.
Earlier this year, Epiha pleaded guilty to similar charges faced by Tamati and is due to be sentenced next week.
The court heard Tamati disputed some of what police said happened -- something that may need to be dealt with at a separate hearing before he is sentenced on June 24.
Judge Paul Geoghegan remanded Tamati in custody.
