A man has been fined after putting a steel post across a railway crossing to set off the alarm bells.
Kyle David Powell, 20, was fined $600 and ordered to pay $130 in court costs when he appeared in Blenheim District Court yesterday after admitting a charge of creating an obstruction.
Powell continued to retrigger the alarm by placing the steel post across the crossing, the Marlborough Express reported. He admitted his actions "could have ended badly".
