KEY POINTS:
A 39-year-old North Canterbury man charged with the rape of a teenager has been remanded in custody till Wednesday when a Christchurch District Court judge will consider a bail application.
Police allege the rape occurred on Saturday. They opposed the granting of bail when the case was first called today but later withdrew the objection on condition that the man lived out of the area.
The man was remanded for the case to be considered in more detail before Judge Jane Farish on Wednesday.
