Covering his scratched hands in the dock, a Christchurch man accused of strangling a police dog has been denied bail today.
The 19 year-old is one of six men due to appear this week in the Christchurch District Court after a child's birthday party in Linwood took a nasty turn on Saturday night.
Perenura Hurinui faces three charges after the fight with police, including assault with intent to injure, assaulting a police officer and disorderly behaviour.
Three officers were injured in the fight and one knocked unconscious in the brawl which saw eight people arrested, including a 13-year-old.
Judge Saunders denied Hurinui's bail application and remanded him in custody until December 22.
