An 18-year-man has been charged with stealing a police patrol car.
The Feilding man allegedly took the vehicle after being stopped by police at Palmerston North on February 25. He was placed into the back of the patrol car while police continued to interview others but climbed over the seats and took off.
But he didn't get very far before he was caught and arrested.
Police said the accused man would appear in Palmerston North District Court tomorrow charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice and unlawfully take a motor vehicle.
