Charges will be levelled against a man caught stealing honesty boxes from a shop in the earthquake-devastated Christchurch city centre.
The man was arrested for burglary after police found he had stolen the boxes along with food and watches from the shop on Barbados St overnight.
Acting District Commander Sam Hoyle said the man will be dealt with in the courts.
"We still have a strong Police presence in the CBD along with defence personnel to catch these people," he said.
Police have been opposing bail for all those caught stealing, looting or breaking cordons in the earthquake aftermath.
