A 66-year-old man accused of stabbing two pensioners will remain behind bars while police check a bail address.
Remus George Jackson appeared before the Auckland District Court facing two counts of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm over the incident at Ryle St, Freemans Bay, last night.
He wore a blue boiler suit and remained silent throughout the hearing.
Jackson's lawyer, David Young, said police needed time to check an address before a bail application would be made.
Two flats, numbers four and five, were taped off at the scene this morning, and number five, where the defendant is listed as living, had a smashed window.
